So you want to get more mileage out of your table lamp, literally or otherwise? Here is one you can pick up and take with you as needed, for anything from nighttime bathroom trips to emergency situations.

Not so long ago something like this concept design by Julien Bergignat would be difficult to implement, requiring either cord or batteries.

Today, however, charging technologies have gotten to the point where this could work much like an electric toothbrush or cellular phone – it charges when you place it in its stand or cradle, only relying on internal power when turned toward portable use.
